We’ve got royalty coming to Bloomfield Garden Centre this spring!
King Tut and Prince Tut grasses will both be gracing our greenhouse with their presence and we’re pretty excited! King Tut is an elegant grass that can grow as high as 4 feet tall with magnificent heads of pendulous leaves atop thick stems. Prince Tut is his slightly smaller relative, at a height of up to 3 feet.
Along with their cousin, Purple Fountain Grass, with her purple leaves and pink seed heads, these grasses are big enough and dramatic enough to create a statement in any bed or large container!
Grasses for a smaller splash
If you’re looking for grasses for a smaller space, we can help you there too.
Juncus Spiralis, or curly grass, is a quirky little plant with unique, spiralling stems that grows up to about 12″ tall. Blue dart grass, is an upright grass with a blue tinge that grows up to about 16″ tall.
Either of these plants is great as filler in a larger container, or as the thriller in a smaller container.
How to care for your ornamental grasses
Ornamental grasses are delightfully low maintenance and will usually grow well without a lot of fussing. Deadheading is also not a concern! They will do well in full sun or partial sun. They can be quite drought tolerant, but will really flourish if they are given plenty of water. Curly grass, blue dart grass and the Tuts can even be grown in the pond!
